Business Basics: Google & Your Business

Why do I need a Google listing?

So may clients of mine donโ€™t understand why they need to have one or what they should add to it. It is a listing on Google that shows, your name, address, website, location, contact information and more! This is a critical step in any local SEO strategy as it makes it easier for customers to find information about your business and allows them to review your business.

When it comes to your business it is so important that you have a presence on a search engine like Google. Google is the most popular search engine for users, so we want to make sure we appear in the results and show a professional brand.

Steps to setting up your business on Google:

๐Ÿ. Have a business email

When you have a business it is important to make it as professional as possible. By having a professional email it makes your business seem more legitimate and earns customers trust. It is also short and easy to remember, so your clients wont forget it.

For example: glowupmarketing@gmail.com does not look as professional as hello@glowupmarketing.ie or help@glowupmarketing.ie

You can send emails with your own name at the end to show the human to human interaction and not just a business.

๐Ÿ. Google Business Listing

A Google business listing is a centralised point for all your contact information on Google. If you want to be found on search engines you should have one.

Without one you could be missing out on thousands of potential customers in your area, who are searching for services like yours.

๐Ÿ‘. Google Reviews

Google reviews can help your business hugely online. Consumers like to look at other peoples opinions about your business, so they can make an informed decision if they want to buy from you or trust your business.

I advise that you have at least 5 if not 10 or more Google reviews. Obviously 5 start reviews are the best, but it is important that if you do get any negative reviews that your respond and handle the situation well and in a timely manner.

The more positive reviews the more likely it is customers will purchase your product or service.

4. Add photos to Google

Adding photos to Google is very important as humans are visual and nosey! Clients want to see what the inside of your salon looks like and before and afterโ€™s of your treatments. I recommend adding your company Logo, pictures of your team, the brands you carry, a picture or video of your salon and some of the treatments you have done.

Pro tip: When adding photos to Google also add a location to them. This makes them even more powerful for SEO. You can add a code to each photo by going to www.geoimgr.com.

5. Add Google Maps

The most used device for searching online is an mobile. Having a listing on Google maps makes it easy for clients to find your business in a hurry.
